Same As It Ever Was takes the stage Sunday in the latest installment of the College Hill Alliance’s Second Sunday Concert Series, playing favorite songs from the Talking Heads as well as other hits from the ’80s.
The seven-piece tribute band started in Knoxville, Tennessee, and has played around the Southeast, said Jessica Walden, director of communications for the College Hill Alliance.
“They were booked by Bragg Jam, who we have been working with,” she said. “They have gotten quite a following. We are excited to have them.”
At their start in 2009, Second Sunday concerts averaged about 75 people coming out to Washington Park each month.
Today, they average close to 1,200, Walden said.
“Attendance has been phenomenal. It has continued to grow, and we continue to see new people as well as people who have made us part of their Sunday plans.”
Concessions are always sold on site, and attendees are welcome to bring picnics, chairs and blankets. In the event of rain, the concert will be moved to the Cox Capitol Theatre, Walden said.
