Two Rutland seniors will be playing college football at Fort Valley State University next year after signing scholarships with the Middle Georgia college this morning.

Dexter Flowers and Denzel Wesley both signed letters-of-intent to play for the Wildcats next season.

Both were offensive stalwarts for Rutland this season, helping the Hurricanes enjoy their first playoff appearance in the school's five-year history. Rutland was also the only team from Macon to advance into this year's GHSA state playoffs.

Wesley talked about his expectations.

"I'm going into Fort Valley State not with the mindset of a freshman, but I'm going to compete for a starting job," he said.

Flowers was recruited by the Wildcats as a wide receiver.

"I'm going to do my best and give it 100 percent so I can be a part of that offense," Flowers said.
