Bibb County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Macon man after a pursuit early this morning, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

Deputies arrested Thomas Richardson, 32, of Macon, and charged him with parole violation, burglary, obstruction, two counts of interference with government property, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license and eluding police.

A deputy spotted Richardson traveling the wrong way in a blue Chevy Corsica down a one-way street on Hardeman Avenue at about 4 a.m., the release said. The vehicle continued to elude deputies, traveling along Walnut Street and Riverside Drive before getting onto Interstate 16 West, then I-75 South.

Richardson continued to elude deputies and got off at the Hartley Bridge Road exit, running through several traffic lights and traveling the wrong side of the street. He then got back onto I-75 and headed north, where he exited onto Eisenhower Parkway.

Richardson turned onto Second Street after he hit a sheriff’s patrol car and headed toward downtown.

Richardson turned into the sheriff’s office parking lot and came to a stop after hitting a sheriff’s van. Deputies were then able to place him under arrest, the release said.

According to the release, Richardson is a suspect in a burglary at the Pig in a Pit restaurant on Bass Road around 2:30 a.m., in which he is captured on video. He also is suspected of a second burglary, the release said.

Anyone with information should contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at (478) 746-9441 or Macon Regional CrimeStoppers at (877) 68-CRIME.
