A 26-year-old Dry Branch man was sentenced to serve 10 years in prison and five years on probation Thursday after a jury convicted him of criminal attempt to commit armed robbery, according to the Bibb County District Attorney’s Office.

Cedric Jammal Dennard met 25-year-old Ti Huang at Macon Mall on Oct. 3 to sell him a cell phone, said prosecutor Sandra Matson.

But Dennard pulled out a gun and demanded Huang give him money, Matson said.

Huang convinced Dennard to put the gun away, but then the two fought and drew the attention of police and security, she said. Matson said a Bibb County jury convicted Dennard after deliberating for 30 minutes.

Information from The Telegraph’s Archives was included in this report.
