Special to The Telegraph

I am not much of a sports fan as I work most of the day and spend the rest of the day with family, friends and God. Recently, I attended a Georgia Tech college football game and was more interested in the concept of the game than the outcome.

Hey, that football out there on the field represents me! I am the pigskin. Republicans, conservatives, corporations, and banks are on one team. Democrats, liberals, tree-huggers, Hollywood and ACORN are on the other.

Fox News, Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh are cheerleading for the Right team. ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, NBC, PBS, New York Times are cheerleading for the Left.

Which side should I be cheering? I really do not like either team. Both team stats are horrific and it is any wonder why I even watch.

By the way, our judicial system is the game official that either throws the yellow flag or allows the game to continue without interruption. They have to make sure the game rules — the Constitution of the United States of America — are followed or else the yellow flag is thrown.

Unfortunately, we can never cheer because, we, the citizens of the United States of America are the football, the pigskin. The official blows the whistle, tosses the coin to see which team goes first. We are held by both teams and tossed around for hours. We pigskins are kicked, fumbled, intercepted, snapped and Hail-Maryed. Oddly, both teams really fight for us ... only to benefit them.

When the game ends, only one team celebrates. Who cares about me, the pigskin? Politicians do not care about you. The media uses you to cheer their team. Our judicial system never throws a yellow flag. The fact of the matter is that not only do I dislike sports, I dislike politics, too.

In case you wondered, Georgia Tech did win.

To all pigskins, spend your time with God, with your family, with your friends and with yourself. Ignore politics and the media and they will soon go away. I can only wish!
