Macon man convicted of child molestation

Staff reportJuly 17, 2014

A Bibb County jury took less than 15 minutes Thursday to convict a Macon man of child molestation.

Winston Eugene Watkins, 50, was found guilty of one count of aggravated child molestation and three counts of child molestation, according to a statement from the Bibb County District Attorney’s Office. His trial began Monday.

Judge Howard Simms sentenced Watkins to life in prison without parole plus 20 years. Assistant District Attorney Dorothy V. Hull prosecuted the case.

“Watkins abused a sacred trust when he chose to victimize this young girl. He didn’t count on her being brave enough to come forward and testify to what he did,” District Attorney David Cooke said.
