Perry Dixie League team earns spot in state title game

The Perry 9-10 all-star baseball team beat Norcross National 10-0 on Wednesday to earn a spot in the Dixie League state baseball tournament.

Jeb Wells pitched four innings and allowed one it. Perry has outscored its opponents 48-9 in the tournament and is off until playing again Friday. The champion of the tournament advances to the Dixie League World Series in August in Lexington, South Carolina.

Western softball team falls in semifinal round

The Western Little League 9-10 softball all-star team lost in the semifinals of the state tournament Tuesday night.

Western beat Elbert County 18-0 on Monday to reach the semifinals with three pitchers -- Megan Sharpe, Dixiana Sims and Madelyn Phillips -- combining on a non-hitter.

But Tuesday, Western dropped a 10-5 decision.

Slocumb joins Bobcats as graduate assistant

Former Georgia College basketball player Abby Slocumb has joined the program as a graduate assistant coach.

Slocumb was a four-year starter for the Bobcats from 2010-2014. She is second in program history with 112 blocked shots.
