Panda Express is coming to Tom Hill Sr. Boulevard.

Construction workers are busy renovating the former Giuseppe’s Pizza & Pasta for the Chinese restaurant. It’s located next to Five Guys Burgers and Fries.

Panda Express Co. plans to open the new restaurant about 12 weeks from now, one contractor on the property said Wednesday.

Workers were installing framing and HVAC systems. There was a “Panda Express: Coming Soon” sign above the entrance.

The new restaurant will be the first Panda Express in Macon and the second in Middle Georgia, following a Panda Express on Watson Boulevard in Warner Robins.

The restaurant will employ 15 to 20 people, said company spokeswoman Thien Ho.

Panda Express is part of a family-owned company, Panda Restaurant Group, which includes Panda Inn and Hibachi-San. The restaurant chain is based in Rosemead, California, and includes more than 1,700 stores in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Guam.
