WARNER ROBINS -- Registration is now underway for the spring Citizen Police Academy offered by Warner Robins police.

The free, 12-week program offers participants a look at the responsibilities and challenges of serving as a police officer, according to a police news release.

Topics include the hiring process, use of force, firearms, the criminal investigations division and the SWAT Team. Participants also have an opportunity to take the field training test and ride along with an on-duty patrol officer.

The academy is scheduled to be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursdays from Aug. 7 to Oct. 23.
