A 72-year-old woman was killed just after 11 a.m. Monday as she tried to do a U-turn on Ga. 22 east of Gray in Jones County.

Mary L. Cramer, of Gray, was headed toward town when she started turning around between Altman Road and Savannah Drive to go toward Haddock, said Deputy William Jernigan of the Jones County Sheriff’s Office.

Cramer’s 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee was hit on the passenger side by a 1999 Ford F-250 headed west, Jernigan said.

The male driver of the pickup was taken by ambulance to the hospital, but his identity and condition were not immediately available.

The road was blocked for about an hour as deputies investigated the accident.

It appears Cramer was at fault in the accident, Jernigan said.
