Monroe County officials identify drowning vicitim

A Macon man drowned in the Ocmulgee River in Monroe County on Saturday.

According to a Monroe County Sheriff’s Office release, a witness reported a possible drowning at about 2:15 p.m. near Juliette. Authorities later identified the victim as Richie Arnez Poole, 48, of Macon.

When deputies and paramedics arrived, Poole had been pulled from the river. The person was taken to the Monroe County Hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival.
