Bonaire reunion scheduled for Saturday

A fight with cancer got Chuck Sevin thinking about reconnecting with the Bonaire of his childhood in the 1960s and 1970s. That led to plans for a reunion.

Saturday’s reunion is drawings guests from as far away as Louisiana. The event is scheduled to run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Ted Wright Park on Moody Road. The reunion appears to be the first for the community, Sevin said.

“They’ve never had one, ever, since the town’s been there,” he said. “Now we’re expecting close to 100 people.”

The $15 event includes catered barbecue from White Diamond Grill. The event has already led to more members of the community reconnecting on Facebook, said Sevin, a 1978 graduate of Warner Robins High School who played on its championship football team.
