A man bleeding from multiple head injuries showed up half-naked at a Unionville store early Friday.

Jessie Gray, who was not wearing pants or underwear, could barely stand when he arrived at the Fastee Foods convenience store at the corner of Montpelier and Pio Nono avenues at about 6:30 a.m.

He told investigators his daughter’s boyfriend robbed and pistol whipped him in a store parking lot down Montpelier Avenue, but deputies checked surveillance video and could not corroborate his story, said Bibb County Sheriff’s Lt. Sean DeFoe, a public affairs officer.

Deputies issued a lookout for a couple with a gun in a black SUV, and later detained them, but at the hospital, the victim’s story changed about what was taken.

The couple said Gray has substance abuse issues and was already bleeding when he tried to get in their vehicle and was likely injured in a fight over drugs.
