Former FPD standout Taylor Floyd shot an 8-under-par 63 on Thursday in the second round of the eGolf Tours Southern Open in Kannapolis, North Carolina.
Floyds round included nine birdies and one bogey. It matched the lowest round of the day.
He is tied for fifth, three shots behind leader Adam Stephenson.
Georgia Dugout team
Several Middle Georgia high school baseball players were named this summer to the Georgia Dugout Club Top 100.
That group includes four players from Tattnall Square: Cole Gaylord, Dalton Newman, Cory Bartholomew and Nick Diponzio. Veterans had two players picked in Tyler Daughtry and Kal Dempsey. Also picked were Jordan Flood (Northside), Tanner Hall (Houston County and Cain Peterson (Dodge County.
Two players from each of the 14 ACC football programs were selected Thursday to attend the ACC Football Kickoff.
The event will be held July 20-21 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Georgia Tech guard Shaquille Mason and linebacker Quayshawn Nealy will join head coach Paul Johnson at the event. Both players are seniors.
College Hall to open in August
The College Football Hall of Fame announced an opening date Thursday for its downtown Atlanta museum.
The new facility, which is located near Philips Arena, the CNN Center and the Georgia Dome, will open Aug. 23.
The building will house the national College Football Hall of Fame, which was located in South Bend, Indiana, as well as offering the Fan Experience that includes interactive exhibits.
