Prayer for today (7/9/14)

July 9, 2014

Our Holy God, we thank thee for thy precious gift of life and health. We thank thee for thy abundant gifts of harvest--tomato and onion, cotton and corn, peanuts and peppers, watermelons and cantaloup, pecans and grapes and so much more. Teach us, O Lord, to pray. Teach us, O Lord, how to live and how to give. We pray for the sick and the elderly, the homeless and the disabled. We pray for those who have no employment and those who are underemployed. We pray for those who are mentally ill and those who are afraid. We pray for those who are going through grief -- the death of a loved one, the ending of a marriage, the loss of a job. We pray for those who stand guard over our freedom this day. Hear our prayer, O Lord, and we pledge to give thee our eternal praise. Amen.
