WARNER ROBINS -- Three teams from Warner Robins American Little League were crowned District 5 champions.
Both baseball and softball will have 11-12-year-old all-star teams from WRALL at the state tournament this year.
The 10-11-year-old WRALL East team beat Dudley Little League, and will also go on to state.
Its my second year of winning districts, said East pitcher Garrett Davis, who was very enthusiastic about the 14-8 championship win.
His father, Mike Davis, manages the team.
The 10-11-year-old team travels to Cartersville Little League to start its tournament Saturday.
On the other side of the state near the Alabama border, the 11-12-year old softball team, managed by Roger Stella Jr., will start at the same time.
We have some work to do, Stella said after the championship win.
His young team, consisting of ten 11-year-olds and three 12-year-olds, will have just a little more than a week to improve.
The state tournament is at West Point Little League and begins Saturday.
The West 11-12-year-old all-stars, managed by Mark Knight, took the weekend of the Fourth of July off to take time to relax before beginning practice in earnest.
Players and parents do not have to travel far, as the tournament will be held at the WRALL fields this year.
Pitcher Dylan Franks said he was more comfortable playing in front of a local crowd.
I think we have a little home field advantage, he said.
The 11-12 Georgia tournament begins July 20.
Earlier in the month, the 7-8-year-old kid pitch team from Warner Robins American took home the state championship.
