Macon player earns spot in U.S. Women’s Amateur

Macon’s Avery George qualified for the U.S. Women’s Amateur on Tuesday in a qualifier held at Pinetree Country Club in Kennesaw.

George shot a 1-under-par 71 in the 18-hole event to earn one of the 10 spots from the qualifier into the Women’s Amateur, which will be played Aug. 4-10 at Nassau Country Club in Glen Cove, New York.

Forsyth’s Taylor McGraw shot a 74 to earn one of two alternate spots.
