Point guard commits to play for Georgia in 2015

July 7, 2014

A stronger than expected season and a resulting coaching contract extension have given the Georgia men's basketball team something new in recruiting: Momentum.

The latest sign of it came Monday, in the form of its first commitment for the 2015 class: Point guard William "Turtle" Jackson reneged on his commitment to defending national champion UConn and flipped to Georgia.

Jackson will be a senior at Athens Christian this fall, and is now set to sign with the Bulldogs during the November signing period. The 6-foot-4 Jackson is listed as a four-star prospect by 247Sports.com and a three-star by Rivals.com.

There is some precedent for Georgia getting a point guard away from UConn: Current starter Charles Mann signed with Georgia two years ago after spurning an offer from the Huskies.
