Former Macon City Councilwoman Nancy White was named as the new administrator of the Macon-Bibb County Health Department.

White has 33 years of health care experience, including clinical nursing, operations, new business development, marketing and government affairs. She has been serving as director of oncology services at The Medical Center of Central Georgia for the past four years.

White served three terms on the City Council but didn’t run for office in the Macon-Bibb County consolidated government.

White also is the chairwoman of the Bibb County American Cancer Society Leadership Council and a Macon Symphony Orchestra board member.

White will succeed Mary Alexander, who is retiring after 34 years of public health work, according to a Georgia Department of Health news release.
