The Miss Georgia Forestry pageant celebrated 75 years of forestry and of pageantry during the annual pageant held in Tifton on June 13-14.
Three local title holders finished in the top 10.
Miss Houston County Forestry Brianna Russ, a Warner Robins High School graduate and Middle Georgia State College student, finished in the top 10.
It was a great experience. Everyone was so nice. I felt really welcomed and part of the forestry family, Russ said.
Kelsey Hollis, the reigning Miss Houston County High School, competed as Teen Miss Houston County Forestry and finished as third runner-up.
With Forestry, you feel so comfortable. It is not just about competition, it is about making friends and meeting new people, Kelsey said.
Teen Miss Peach County Forestry Stella Mills also finished in the top 10.
I was very proud of her because she was the youngest teen competing. She had just turned 13 right before state and had to move up and was competing against a lot of 15- and 16-year-old girls, said Vicky Lovett, who is director of both the Houston and Peach County forestry pageants.
The Forestry pageant system has age divisions for girls from birth to age 23. The Houston County and Peach County preliminaries will be held Nov. 29. For more information about the preliminary pageants, contact Lovett at (478) 284-2350 or email her at email@example.com.
