WARNER ROBINS -- Four divisions were playing for District 5 championships this past weekend at the Warner Robins American Little League fields. The 9-10 baseball was held in Dublin at Dudley Little League.

For the 9- 10-year-old softball and baseball teams from Warner Robins American, the all-star season is done.

With only two teams in the softball division, Western Little League from Macon beat the WRALL girls 7-5 and 10-5 in the double elimination tournament.

On the baseball side, WRALL sent four teams from its league down to Dudley Little League where the tournament was hosted. The Warner Robins West White team, managed by Ed Mashburn, lost in the championship game to Vine Ingle Little League of Macon, 11-2.

Warner Robins struck first with an RBI triple from Andrew Dunford, who scored Cooper Avery in the first inning.

Colby Dent was the starting pitcher for the West White team. Ty Shelton, Evan Blasche and Nik Buckner also pitched in the bottom of the fifth.

The game was close with a score of 3-2 until the fifth inning when Vine Ingle scored eight runs. The team from Warner Robins couldn’t come back from the deficit.

The 10- 11-year-old baseball division had Dudley Little League as the spoiler. As of June 29, the team from Dublin was undefeated. The team was scheduled to play in the championship game July 1 against the winner of the WRALL East versus West game June 30.

Manager Jess Shipley’s 11-12 East baseball All Stars were out of the championship hunt as the team lost twice, once to Dudley, 13-3, and to Vine Ingle, 14-3.

The 11- 12-year-old softball and baseball teams had not crowned a District 5 champion as of press time.
