Sports briefs: Vine Ingle team headed to state

Vine Ingle Little League’s 9-10-year-old all-stars beat Warner Robins 11-2 on Sunday to win the District 5 tournament and earn a spot in the state tournament.

The state tournament will be held in Columbus and begins July 12.

Vine Ingle went through the district tournament with an undefeated record outscoring its opponents 35-17. The team is coached by Lee Perkins, Mark Rowland and Rodney McCart.

The team is made up of Clay Rowland, Luke McCart, Cameron Park, Coleman Cauley, Charlie Morris, Dylan Butler, Walker Perkins, Blake Cohen, Benjamin Stubbs, Carson Chambliss, Will Green and Jackson Moore.

“These boys have worked very hard over the last three weeks, and we could not be happier,” Lee Perkins said. “We can’t wait to get to Columbus and make a run at the state championship,”

Macon Bucks win two more games

The Macon Bucks 17-U basketball team continued won two more games Saturday and reached the Final Four at the National USSSA Basketball Tour, which is being played in Gainesville, Florida.

The Bucks defeated the Birmingham Hawks 55-42 and the Miami Extreme 72-65, The Bucks were led offensively by Cale Mainor, Jordan Jedneski, Jarodney Stubbs and Derius Wonnum.
