A 67-year-old man died at a local hospital Thursday after the vehicle he was driving hit a retaining wall on Interstate 475 in Bibb County.

Donald Jennings of Vero Beach, Florida, and his wife were traveling north on the highway when Jennings lost control of his vehicle, according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release.

The sheriff’s office responded to the accident about 11:40 a.m. Jennings was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. His wife was uninjured, the release said.

The sheriff’s office said Jennings was possibly suffering from a medical-related issue that led to the accident. He lost control of his vehicle as he maneuvered from the center lane to the left lane, hit the middle retaining wall, then went left, crossing over three lanes and down an embankment, according to the release.

The accident is under investigation.
