The College Hill Alliance announced Wednesday it is one of 55 applicants to be awarded funding from the ArtPlace America grant program.

The alliance will receive $125,000 to host the midstate’s first maker festival, which will position Macon regionally as a leader in creative placemaking and innovation. The alliance originally asked for $58,500, but ArtPlace added the extra money in the grant because of the intensive planning needed and regional appeal of the event, according to a news release.

The alliance plans a news conference at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Macon Beer Co., 345 Oglethorpe St., about the local Maker Movement.
