Ga. 41 blocked near Smarr

A large pine tree blocked traffic late Monday afternoon on Ga. 41 near Smarr, according to a Monroe County Sheriff’s Office news release.

A Georgia Department of Transportation crew was on the way to remove the tree at about 5 p.m. and deputies were helping direct traffic.

Travelers are urged to take alternate routes. There’s no estimate about how long it will take to clear the road.

No one was injured.
