United Way book giveaway is Saturday

The United Way of Central Georgia is hosting a book fair Saturday from 10 a.m.-noon at the Buck Melton Community Center.

The community center is located at 150 Sessions Drive in Macon.

The “United Way Day of Action Book Fair” allows school-age children to choose books to take home at no cost. The event will feature activities for children and readings from local author Rhonda Singletary.

for United Way, said the typical American family owns an average of 13 books, but in the midstate there’s just one book for every 300 children.
