Macon, Warner Robins contestants win Miss Georgia prelims

Middle Georgia contestants took top honors Wednesday night during the first round of preliminary competition at the Miss Georgia Pageant.

At the 70th annual scholarship competition in Columbus, Miss Macon Carmella Turner won the Miss Georgia preliminary talent competition along with Miss Lake Lanier Gabriella Booth.

Warner Robins contestants also took top honors in the Miss Georgia Outstanding Teen competition.

Miss International City Outstanding Teen Sarah Deloach won the preliminary lifestyle and fitness category and Miss Warner Robins Outstanding Teen Olivia McMillan won the preliminary talent competition.

In the Miss Georgia lifestyle and fitness in swimsuit category, Miss Cherokee Rose Patricia Lin Ford and Miss Apple Capital Mary Ashley Tucker are preliminary winners.

Preliminary competitions continue through Friday before winners are crowned Saturday. The newly crowned women will represent Georgia at the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on Sept. 14 and Miss America’s Outstanding Teen in Orlando, Florida, on Aug. 2. The Miss America Organization makes available more than $45 million in cash and tuition scholarship assistance each year.
