Miss Georgia Pageant has good Warner Robins representation

Sun News correspondentJune 18, 2014

The city of Warner Robins will be very well represented at the Miss Georgia pageant, which starts June 18 in Columbus.

Olivia McMillan -- Miss Warner Robins Outstanding Teen 2014; Michelle Johnson -- Miss Warner Robins 2014; Courtney Walker -- Miss International City 2014; and Sarah DeLoach -- Miss International City’s Outstanding Teen 2014, all will compete in the pageant.

Also competing in the Miss Georgia pageant are three other young women with ties to Warner Robins; Charlene Bibeau, the reigning Miss Southeast Georgia who was Miss Warner Robins 2013; Betty Cantrell, a Warner Robins resident who is the reigning Miss Historic Southern Plains; and Melanie Wood, a Northside High School student who is the reigning Miss Historic Southern Plains’ Outstanding Teen.

Contestants arrived in Columbus this past Saturday for a full week of activities. The judge’s interviews with the contestants were held earlier this week. Preliminary competition starts tonight and will be web streamed on WRBL out of Columbus.

Contestants will compete in three nights of preliminaries, including talent, fitness, evening gown and onstage questions.

Based on their preliminary score, contestants are ranked in the top 10 for Saturday night’s Miss Georgia pageant.

This is the 70th Miss Georgia pageant and many former Miss Georgia winners will be in attendance. Warner Robins will also be well represented in the former Miss Georgia category.

Four previous Miss Georgia winners with a connection to Warner Robins are expected to attend. Miss Georgia 2006 Amanda Kozak Miliner, who won the title of Miss Georgia as Miss Valdosta; Bobbie Eakes, who won Miss Georgia 1982 as Miss University of Georgia; Eakes’ sister, Sandra Eakes McCain, who was Miss Georgia 1979 winning as Miss Macon; and Burma Davis Posey, Miss Georgia 1968, who is the only Miss Georgia to win as Miss Warner Robins. All four women graduated from Warner Robins High School.

While it is Miss Georgia week, the Miss Warner Robins pageant is on the horizon. It will be held July 26 at the Homer J. Walker Civic Center. Entry paper work is available on misswarnerrobins.org.
