A man accused of attempting suicide by crashing into a tanker truck was indicted Tuesday in Bibb County Superior Court.

Nicolas Deontea Owens, 27, of Macon, is charged with criminal damage to property and aggravated assault, according to an indictment.

Owens allegedly told deputies he drove his station wagon into the side of a fuel tanker at about 11 p.m. March 1, 2013, because he wanted to end his life.

The wreck on the Interstate 475 exit ramp onto Thomaston Road caused the tanker to burst into flames, burning Owens and causing the truck's driver to fracture his arm, according to the indictment.
