Fight in Payne City leads to shooting

An argument led to a shooting Saturday that put one man in the hospital and another in jail.

According to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office release, the incident happened at about 5:30 p.m. on Gardner Street in Payne City.

Anthony Hewitt, 34, of Macon, was at the residence of Cedric Davis, 33, when two got into an argument that turned into a fight, the release stated. Davis allegedly struck Hewitt with a gun several times in the head and face, then shot Hewitt in the face.

Hewitt is in stable condition at The Medical Center of Central Georgia. Davis was charged with aggravated assault.
