Christian musician Ellie Holcomb to perform in Macon benefitting First Presbyterian Day School

June 13, 2014

Ellie Holcomb will perform Saturday at First Presbyterian Day School.

For one of its annual fundraisers, organizers at First Presbyterian Day School thought it would be fun to offer something uplifting for the whole community.

Christian recording artist Ellie Holcomb will perform Saturday night at the school, and the public is invited.

According to Beth Burnsed, director of communications for FPD, Holcomb’s music has a “peaceful, folksy feel. It’s Christian-based music and everybody finds it uplifting and enjoyable.”

Holcomb released two EPs based on the Psalms and other scriptures, “Magnolia EP” in 2011 and “With You Now” in 2013. Both hit No. 1 on the iTunes Christian/Gospel charts. She released a new album, “As Sure As the Sun,” in February.

The concert benefits the school’s annual fund, which supports programs at the school such as athletics, the arts and academic needs, Burnsed said.

The event should be a great family evening.

“She’ll be performing an acoustic concert with a soothing feel and because it is Christian music, it is appropriate for all ages,” Burnsed said. “It’s a way to spend time together this summer as a family that’s encouraging and uplifting.”
