Nightly work to slow I-75, Ga. 96 traffic

Roadwork will slow late traffic on Interstate 75 between Byron and Macon, as well as on Ga. 96 near Houston Lake Road in Houston County.

Crews scheduled construction to begin at 5 p.m. Tuesday along Interstate 75 southbound near the Bibb, Crawford and Peach county lines. That work is slated to stop by 5 a.m. Wednesday, resume at 5 p.m. Wednesday and be completed by 5 a.m. Thursday.

All lanes of Interstate 75 will be open during the day, but just one lane may be open at times during the night. Crews will be replacing asphalt around Echeconnee Creek and mile marker 151, the Georgia Department of Transportation said in a statement. Drivers should slow down and be alert for workers and equipment.

Another construction project already has begun. Lanes of Ga. 96 in Houston County will be closed nightly between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. through Saturday morning. Crews will be installing a drainage pipe between Lake Joy Road and Peach Blossom Road, an area roughly centered on Houston Lake Road.
