The wife of WMAZ anchorman Frank Malloy was critically hurt in an accident Monday afternoon when her vehicle went off Rivoli Drive, down an embankment and hit a tree near Wesleyan Drive.
Macon-Bibb County firefighters extricated Marilyn Malloy, 54, from her wrecked car in the woods near Wesleyan Drive just before 2:20 p.m.
Malloy is listed in critical but stable condition, according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriffs Office.
First-responders arrived shortly after 1:50 p.m. to find her Chevrolet Malibu off the road and Malloy unconscious.
A passer-by called in the accident and crews initially had difficulty finding the car down an embankment and had to secure the scene before they could start extrication to remove her from the wreckage.
The public works department was called to remove a large pine tree damaged in the accident.
Rivoli Drive was closed from Wesleyan Drive to Wesleyan Woods Drive during the rescue operation.
In March 2012, the Malloys son Nick was paralyzed in an accident on Interstate 75.
The musician fell asleep at the wheel and crashed down an embankment into some trees.
The wreckage was not discovered until hours later.
Bibb County sheriffs investigators are trying to determine how Mondays accident occurred.
