Murder charges imminent in death of 5-year-old

Two people facing cruelty to children charges in connection to the death of a 5-year-old girl in Forsyth could be facing charges of aggravated battery and murder.

The plan is to charge both Roderick Buckner, 34, and Amanda Hendrickson, 33, with the additional charges, but the warrants will not be filed before Thursday, District Attorney Richard Milam said.

Hendrickson and daughter 5-year-old Heaven Woods had been living with Buckner since early May. Hendrickson had a history with the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services at her previous residence in Rome, according to a GBI news release.

An autopsy determined the cause of her death to be blunt force trauma to the abdomen. The GBI crime lab in Atlanta found new and old injuries, the release stated.

Hendrickson and Buckner have been denied bond on the cruelty to children charges and are being held at the Monroe County Justice Center.
