A fight between two men escalated into a gun battle off Shurling Drive in east Macon.

Just before 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Bibb County deputies were called to a shootout at 1925 Pinehill Drive where 20-year-old Chavis Stokes and 19-year-old Amond Rashad Norwood got into an altercation earlier in the day, according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Norwood left and returned with a gun and fired into the occupied house belonging to a relative of Stokes.

Chavis Stokes’ brother DeAngelo Stokes came out of the house and shot back, fell and broke his leg.

Norwood left in a black, four-door Honda before deputies arrived.

DeAngelo Stokes was taken to the hospital in stable condition, but no one was wounded by the gunfire.

Anyone who has seen Norwood or knows about the shooting is urged to leave a message for the on-call investigator at 751-7500 or phone Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 877-68-CRIME.
