Employees of a south Macon discount store thwarted an armed robbery Wednesday night.
Just before 10 p.m., a woman claiming to have a gun in her pocket demanded money from the clerk at the Family Dollar at 1415 Rocky Creek Road, according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriffs Office.
The clerk and the assistant manager sustained minor injuries fighting the woman, who fled the store without any money.
She is described as a white woman in her 40s, about 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighing about 230 pounds and was wearing a blue and white floral print tank top and blue pants, the release stated.
She drove off in a older model white Ford pickup with a wide maroon stripe down the length of the truck and a disabled person license plate.
The workers were treated by paramedics at the scene and released.
