Dental records have confirmed that the body found Friday in Lake Oconee is that of Shirley Dermond.

The 87-year-old had been missing since early May. Investigators found the headless body of her 88-year-old husband in the garage of their lakefront home on May 6.

Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills said an autopsy Saturday showed Dermond was dead when her body was put in the water. She died of blunt force trauma to the head, he said.

Authorities are now searching the lake near where her body was found for her husband's head.
