Georgia Court of Appeals Judge Stephen Louis A. Dillard, of Macon, will take a temporary seat Monday on the Supreme Court of Georgia.
Dillard has been tapped to serve in place of Judge David Nahmias, who recused himself as the justices hear arguments in an appeal to decide whether directors and officers of a failed bank can be held liable for ordinary negligence, according to a news release from the Supreme Court of Georgia.
The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. sued eight former executives with Integrity Bank of Alpharetta, which closed in August 2008.
The FDIC alleges the banks directors and officers had caused $70 million in losses to the bank on 21 loans they had negligently approved by routinely circumventing lending policies and procedures and failing to adequately supervise lending personnel.
The state Supreme Court maintains a list of substitute judges that includes Dillard, who has served on the Court of Appeals since 2010.
