Couple robs Milledgeville electronics store

Just before lunchtime Monday, a couple robbed the Radio Shack at 2600 N. Columbia St. in Milledgeville.

About 11:30 a.m., a man got out of a black Nissan Maxima or Altima, went into the store and asked for speaker wire while a woman drove around to the back door of the store, Police Chief Dray Swicord said.

Surveillance cameras from the nearby Wal-Mart captured the woman’s image as she walked into the store.

The man put a gun to the clerk’s back and forced her into a back room where she was zip-tied and her keys were taken, Swicord said.

The couple took about $30,000 worth of high-end, no-contract cell phones and left through the back door to the waiting getaway car.

Swicord said he has no reason to believe the heist was related to another armed robbery at a southside Milledgeville convenience store late Friday night.
