Montez Q. Sands

A Mother’s Day visit led to gunfire Sunday night at Green Meadows Apartments at 3867 Log Cabin Drive.

Montez Quenshonderick Sands, 24, is accused of opening fire with a semi-automatic pistol and wounding a man who is a friend of the boyfriend of the mother of Sands’ 3-year-old daughter, according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Treavon Girtman, 19, went with Rodney Roquemore, 19, to visit Shundrea Jordon when Sands arrived about 6 p.m. Sunday, pulled the gun, started yelling and fired several shots at Girtman, striking him above the knees, investigators said.

Sands dumped his daughter out of his 1998 orange and purple Cadillac Brougham and rode off, according to the release.

Sands turned himself in about 10 p.m. Sunday, and he was booked into the Bibb County jail on an aggravated assault charge.

Investigators determined there was no child cruelty in the case, according to an updated news release.
