Monroe student allegedly brought BB gun to school, officials say

Monroe County officials are investigating an incident involving a student allegedly bringing a BB gun to Monroe County Middle School, according to a community newsletter.

Administrators were informed Thursday that a student brought the weapon, which likely was an Airsoft gun, to school earlier in the week. Officials believe the student possibly had the gun at school on Wednesday, the newsletter said.

The school system is working with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department to resolve the matter, the newsletter said.

“Monroe County Schools recognizes this is a serious issue,” Superintendent Anthony Pack said in the newsletter.
