A 20-year-old Reynolds man walking along Ga. 96 was hit by a car and killed Thursday night in Peach County.

Rodarious Lindsey Ladd was pronounced dead at the scene about a mile and a half outside of Fort Valley at 9:35 p.m., said Peach County Coroner Kerry Rooks.

“All I know, he was walking on the edge of the road and was wearing dark clothing,” Rooks said.

Terry G. Lowder, 50, of Warner Robins, was driving a 1995 Nissan Maxima when he was passing in a passing zone and hit Ladd, said Sgt. Crystal Zion of the Georgia State Patrol’s Perry post.

Lowder was charged with DUI, and the Georgia State Patrol is trying to determine whether alcohol was a factor in causing the accident.

Evidence of driving under the influence does not necessarily mean vehicular homicide charges will be filed, Zion said.

The Georgia State Patrol’s investigation will determine whether additional charges will be filed in Ladd’s death, she said.
