A Bibb County school bus carrying children collided with a sport utility vehicle Wednesday morning on Vineville Avenue.

Six students were on board, and three were headed to the Georgia Academy for the Blind when the accident happened at about 8:45 a.m.

“Everybody is fine,” said Cindy Gibson, principal at the school for the sight-impaired. “It was a fender bender, but a big fender bender.”

Stephanie Hartley, spokeswoman for the Bibb County School System, said a school nurse also checked on the students.

A witness said the bus was headed east toward town and was turning into campus when it collided with a black Ford Freestyle.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating what caused the accident.
