A gunman hid inside a Macon store early Wednesday and robbed employees as they came to work at Aarons at 4696 Log Cabin Drive.
When employees arrived at 9 a.m., the man jumped out at them, pointed his gun and demanded money, their cellphones and car keys, said Lt. Sean DeFoe, public information officer for the Bibb County Sheriffs Office.
The gunman fired into the ceiling before exiting through a hole in the wall.
Sometime overnight, he had smashed an opening in the right side of the store to get in, and left the same way because workers had locked the front door behind them on the way in, DeFoe said.
The robber jumped into a workers car and got away.
He was driving a dark green 1999 Mercury Mountaineer with a retired veterans Georgia license plate, XF151G.
The car has stickers on the back window, and a blue tag with a winged Air Force logo on the front.
The gunman is described as a black male, wearing all black clothing, including a hooded shirt and face covering.
He is about 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs about 150 pounds.
Anyone with information about the burglary and armed robbery is urged to call Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 877-68-CRIME.
