Latimore: Makeup, nail artists to compete Sunday

May 2, 2014

The Oh Snap! Makeup and Nail Competition has a cosmopolitan vibe that makes Macon seem like a metropolitan. This is the first time our town has experienced an event such as this without it being attached to a major hair show.

Princess Davis, the founder of Innovators Alive, has created this unique production. She’s an artist who exercises her rights across many disciplines. Davis is well-known as a choreographer and dancer as well as handcrafting costumes and jewelry. Now, she is providing a platform for makeup and nail students plus professionals to show off their talents.

The custom concept definitely gives birth to a vibrancy of the arts in our community. It attracts people from out of town and nurtures the sometimes overlooked local artists in the beauty industry. There will be celebrity guest hosts and entertainers. Moreover, DJ Surname Helms will master the lighting and musical atmosphere.

The competition goes down Sunday at the Cox Capitol Theatre in downtown Macon. Both the makeup and nail contests have three categories. The makeup classes are Battle: Fastest Full Face Makeup in 20 minutes; Futuristically Fierce; and Model Showcase/Skit. On a similar note, the nail competitors will be judged in the categories of Battle: Fastest Full Set in 20 minutes; 3D Nail Art; and Model Showcase/Skit. There’s a $25 entry fee for students or professionals who want to battle. Participants must be 18 and older.

The grand prize is $750 for the best makeup artist and $500 for the first place nail technician. Innovators Alive has produced something different that caters to many people in Macon-Bibb County and Middle Georgia. Just look around at our beautiful and well-manicured citizens.

With so many aestheticians and nail shops in Middle Georgia, there’s certainly a demand for the Oh Snap! Makeup and Nail Competition. Take time to witness Hollywood glamour done by makeup and nail artists in Macon.
