Alert bank employees helped Laurens County sheriff’s deputies arrest a woman following Thursday's bank robbery in Dexter.

The sheriff’s office responded to the First Laurens Bank at around 9:45 a.m., Sheriff Bill Harrell said.

Workers provided a description of the woman, who apparently was acting alone.

Sherry Lynn Waldrep, 52, was arrested a short distance from the bank with the help of a Georgia State Patrol trooper. She is facing armed robbery charges, the sheriff said.

Dublin police and the Dodge State Prison K-9 unit also assisted at the scene.
