WARNER ROBINS -- A substantial reward is expected to be announced Friday in connection with identifying the man who shot a Centerville convenience store clerk during a robbery earlier this year.

Centerville police and Macon Regional Crimestoppers are expected to announce the reward at a 9:30 a.m. news conference at the Centerville Police Department at 308 E. Church Street.

Rohitkumar Patel, 38, was shot in the face during the 10:20 p.m. robbery Feb. 12 at the Pure gas station at 820 Houston Lake Blvd. after complying with the suspect’s demands to hand over cash, police said.

“We are reaching out to the public asking for their help in solving this malicious and senseless assault on Mr. Patel,” police Capt. Roger Hayes said.

The amount of the reward is expected to be announced at the news conference.

At the time of the incident, the shooter was described as a black man, standing about 5 feet tall, who wore all black and a mask.

Anyone with information is asked to call Centerville police Detective Sgt. Phillip Pritchett at 478-953-4222 or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 478-742-2330.
