Macon Charter Academy delays opening

The Macon Charter Academy, which was scheduled to open in August, has delayed its opening by one year because of construction concerns, according to an announcement on the school’s website.

The school is now scheduled to open in August 2015 as an elementary and middle school. The delay will allow for complete renovations of current buildings and the construction of a middle school on campus, which will be on Madison Street, the announcement said.

Parents are invited to attend a meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Central High School auditorium. School officials will provide updates on construction plans for the charter school.
