Masked trio tries to rob Macon store

Bibb County sheriff’s deputies are looking for three men who tried to rob the Jumbo’s convenience store at 4116 Napier Ave. shortly after 4:30 a.m. Wednesday.

One man had a camouflaged shotgun, another a revolver and the third manned the door from the outside, according to early reports from the scene.

The would-be robbers could not breach the bulletproof glass and metal door protecting the cashier, so they ran out of the store and headed down Ayers Road, which flanks the left side of the building.

They were believed to be in their late teens to 20 years of age, between 5 feet 6 and 5 feet 9 and weighed about 160 pounds.

Both were wearing dark clothing with white T-shirts masking their faces.
