An east Bibb County store clerk was cut during an armed robbery early Tuesday.

The man had just closed the Citgo at 3705 Irwinton Road and was walking to his car when an armed man came up from behind shortly after midnight, according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

The robber held a box cutter or knife to the back of the clerk’s neck and forced the man to drive away.

After demanding cash, the robber ordered the driver to stop and get out of the vehicle, which was a couple blocks away from the store.

The clerk, who suffered superficial cuts on his neck, ran to the store and called 911, but his car was empty and the robber had fled by the time deputies arrived.

The suspect is described as a white male, about 5 feet 7 who was wearing a dark-colored hoodie, but no further details were available.
